Dr. Amy O’Brien

Dr. Amy O’Brien, originally from Hobart, grew up with a strong inspiration to pursue medicine, influenced by her two medical parents. She graduated with a medical degree from the University of Tasmania in 2000. Following her internship, Amy broadened her horizons, moving first to Melbourne and later to London, where she gained extensive experience in Emergency Medicine. She also dedicated a year to teaching at a medical school in the Caribbean as a volunteer.

Returning to Australia in late 2006 with her husband, Amy commenced General Practice training in Melbourne. During this time, she developed a passion for procedural work, which sparked her interest in Skin Cancer Medicine. Working in semi-rural areas around Melbourne allowed her to deepen her expertise in this field. By 2010, upon moving back to Hobart, Amy transitioned into a dedicated skin cancer clinic, further enhancing her skills through advanced training in Dermatology, Skin Cancer Medicine, and Aesthetic Medicine.

Over the past decade, Amy has honed her focus on Skin, Skin Cancer, and Aesthetic Medicine, working at prominent practices in Hobart. In 2024, she founded her own clinic, O’Skin Medical, with the vision of creating a comprehensive, patient-centered clinic addressing skin health and associated medical concerns. Her clinic brings together a team of specialists to provide holistic care in a compassionate environment.

Amy offers both surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers and pre-cancerous conditions, as well as treatments for benign skin issues. She is highly skilled in laser therapy for both medical and cosmetic purposes and also provides tailored aesthetic treatments.

Beyond her professional life, Amy is passionate about building meaningful relationships with her patients, ensuring a welcoming environment where individual concerns are prioritized. In her free time, she enjoys Pilates, early morning jogs with her best friend, and spending time with her husband and three children.

Amy is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and holds a Diploma of Dermoscopy and a Certificate of Dermatology.
